Adding 1,2,3 or 4

Double Addition

This section introduces double facts, in which the same number is added to itself (e.g., 2 + 2 or 7 + 7). Practicing doubles helps students recognize patterns in numbers and quickly recall common sums, building speed and confidence with basic addition.

Addition With Before/After Numbers

This section focuses on adding numbers that are one apart, such as 4 + 5 or 7 + 6. By recognizing that these problems are close to double facts, students learn to use what they know about doubles to solve new sums more quickly and build stronger number sense.
